A big thank you to all those who attended the hugely enjoyable Annual Dinner (March 2014); it was one of the highest attendance dinners we have had with over 75 guests in attendance and all took place in the grand surroundings of The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon.
The speakers on the night were Leon Smith and Dan Lobb. Leon is the current captain of the Great Britain Davis Cup team and Head of Men’s Tennis. Leon has been Davis Cup captain since April 2010; his appointment made him the youngest Great Britain captain since, last year’s guest speaker, Paul Hutchins in 1975. Leon also coached Andy Murray between the ages of 11 to 15, in which time Andy won the Junior Orange Bowl title and five ITF Futures events. As you might know, Dan is an ex-British tennis player and TV presenter (including appearing on the 2011 series of Strictly Come Dancing!)
Leon and Dan were very entertaining and great to hear first-hand about the recent Great Britain win over USA and hear his great knowledge on World Tennis. It was also extremely interesting to hear the behind the scenes insight into a Davis Cup tie and the level of preparation that is required. Dan provided the Q&A in an amusing and well presented and professional fashion.
A great night was had by all and roll on 2015 where we can get our members together again for another highly entertaining evening.
